Perceptions: Magazine of the Arts is an annual publication series operated under Mt. Hood Community College. It consists of submitted works from literature to visual and audible pieces. Within the literature portion you will find non-fiction, fiction, and poetry. As for visual and audible – short films, photography, paintings, and music would be found. Submission are consistently accepted and considered from September 15 – January 31 for each issue.
Working with another designer, Damaris Dusciuc, we were challenged with the project of creating a brand identity for the 2015 issue of Perceptions. We first began by experimenting with paper and textural options to dictate the rest of our decisions while we waited for submissions and content to filter in. During this time, we also filtered through a variety of possible logo and font choices. Once content was received, Damaris began working on the overall layout for the pages and spreads. While this was happening, my attention was placed on the book and media covers, as well as the disc designs.
